Parking

Description of Section

This includes the number of accessible spaces, the distance of the accessible spaces from the accessible entrance, and the accessibility of the path from the accessible spaces to the sidewalk that the entrance is on (includes curb ramps).

Details

  • There are two spaces marked as accessible on either side of the end of Allied Lane, about 165 and 235 feet away from the entrance - the one 165 feet away is approximately 97 inches wide with a 56-57 inch wide access aisle and the space 235 feet away is approximately 100 inches wide with an access aisle that overlaps with the sidewalk which has a slight lip

  • There is a space near C’ville Coffee that isn’t marked as accessible but has an access aisle, which is about 175 feet away from the entrance

  • There are also 4 spaces across from C’ville Coffee that could work for some customers if the other spots aren’t available, which range from about 110-200 feet away from the entrance

  • The path to the entrance from the accessible spaces is the parking lot with no curb ramp, which is all paved, but has some bumpy areas due to sewers and bumpy pavement

Entrance

Description of Section

This includes how easy it is to find the accessible entrance, steps/ramps/pathways from the curb ramp/sidewalk to the door, width of entrance door, lip under the entrance door, presence of automatic door openers, reachability of the door handle, and the weight of the door.

Details

  • There is one entrance/exit door with no automatic door opener

  • The entrance/exit door is a little difficult to open due to the force required to open it and the threshold is about 5 inches total vertical rise in step-like formation

  • The door opening is about 32 inches wide

  • The door openers used to open them are at accessible heights off the ground and do not require gripping, pinching, or twisting

Interior Pathways

Description of Section

This includes accessibility of lifts/ramps/elevators, signage to find accessibility features, widths of pathways, cleanliness of pathways, how steep pathways are, presence of inaccessible areas, and the weight/lip/height of handles & knobs of doors not covered by other sections.

Details

  • The pathway to the escape rooms is more than 36 inches wide and the bathroom hallway is 35.5 inches wide

  • There is a small lip, less than 0.5 inches at the end of the first hallway to the escape rooms

  • The escape rooms are spacious enough for a customer using a wheelchair to completely turn around, but there are some inaccessible pathways inside the escape rooms - however there are doors to every single escape room that can be used as an alternative to these inaccessible pathways

  • One of the escape room doors is about 27.5 inches wide and has a protruding object in the maneuvering clearance, but the rest of the escape room doors are about 29-31 inches wide and have an accessible amount of maneuvering clearance on the pull side of the doors

  • All of the escape room doors are easy to open, force-wise, and have accessible handles at accessible heights

  • Some of the clues customers are supposed to access might be inaccessible due to them being higher than 48 inches or lower than 15 inches off the floor, they might require lifting heavier objects, or they might require pinching, gripping, or twisting

Description of Section

This includes how helpful and polite employees are (our speciality)!

  • Employees are very polite and helpful, and check-in on customers consistently

Seating

Description of Section

This includes if the seating is removable in all functional areas and if employees are around to help with seating.

Details

  • There is a waiting area with seating as soon you walk into this location

  • The couches and chairs are at accessible heights

  • There is one chair that is constricting the pathway to the bathrooms

Bathroom

Description of Section

This includes bathrooms being labeled as accessible, the width of bathroom and accessible stall doors, location of doors, height of door openers off the floor, weight of doors, presence of appropriate grab bars, the ability for a customer using a wheelchair to completely turn around in the bathroom/accessible stall, the height of the flush controls off the floor, the reachability of the sink/toilet paper/soap/drying equipment/lights, and the height of mirrors off the floor.

Details

  • There are two bathrooms, which are not labeled as accessible

  • The bathroom doors are not difficult to open force-wise, do not have thresholds, and have handles at accessible heights, however they have inaccessible door frames with an opening width of 22 inches and have door knobs that require gripping and twisting

  • Customers using wheelchairs can not do a 360 degree turn in either bathroom

  • Neither bathroom has grab bars around the toilet

  • The toilet paper rolls are 7-9 inches from the centers of the fronts of the toilets in the bathrooms

  • The lights switches are at accessible heights off the floor

  • The sinks and soap dispensers are at accessible heights in both bathrooms, although the soap dispensers are in the corners and customers have to reach over the sink

  • The paper towel rolls and mirrors in both bathrooms are not at accessible heights off the bathroom floors

Point of Sale

Description of Section

This includes the reachability of merchandise (including food and drinks), the height of the counter which customers pay at, and the presence of a removable tablet/card reader.

Details

  • Most transactions are done online or over the phone before visiting, however there is a movable card reader in case this isn’t true. Staff members also take cards and swipe them for customers.

Amenities

Description of Section

This includes the presence of accessibility features to make this establishment go above and beyond the accessibility of other establishments of the same type.

Details

  • This location has been through VisitAble Training Certification process, and is working on acquiring more amenities to increase accessibility
