Section

Parking

Description of Section

This includes the number of accessible spaces, the distance of the accessible spaces from the accessible entrance, and the accessibility of the path from the accessible spaces to the sidewalk that the entrance is on (includes curb ramps).

Details

  • There are 4 accessible parking spaces, 2 of them being van-accessible (although they are not labeled as van-accessible), that are about 160-200 feet away from the entrance

  • The parking lot is made of pavement, but is patterned similar to bricks and is not smooth

  • The path to the sidewalk from the accessible spaces is at least 36 inches wide and does not have a lip

Section

Entrance

Description of Section

This includes how easy it is to find the accessible entrance, steps/ramps/pathways from the curb ramp/sidewalk to the door, width of entrance door, lip under the entrance door, presence of automatic door openers, reachability of the door handle, and the weight of the door.

Details

  • The slope of the pathway from the sidewalk (next to the accessible parking spaces) to the entrance is around 5% or 1:20

  • You have to go past The Juice Laundry, which might mean you have to navigate around people waiting/eating outside

  • There is one exterior entrance/exit door and one interior entrance/exit door, with no automatic door openers

  • It’s possible that the maneuvering clearance to pull the exterior entrance door open might be too small for some customers, but the rest of the doors have adequate maneuvering clearances

  • The door handles are at accessible heights and the doors are not difficult to open in terms of weight/tension

  • The widths of the door openings are about 33 inches wide and the lips are not difficult to navigate over

  • The interior entrance/exit door almost always stays open for customers

Water/ Refreshments

Description of Section

This includes the accessibility of water fountains/drinking coolers (height off the ground & space around), the reachability of complimentary water/refreshments, and whether or not employees get and transport water/refreshments for you.

Details

  • There is a counter near the treatment rooms that has boxed waters on it that are about 33-37 inches off the floor

  • Staff is more than happy to offer and bring customers this water

Interior Pathways

Description of Section

This includes accessibility of lifts/ramps/elevators, signage to find accessibility features, widths of pathways, cleanliness of pathways, how steep pathways are, presence of inaccessible areas, and the weight/lip/height of handles & knobs of doors not covered by other sections.

Details

  • Almost all pathways in the main areas, besides the pathways around the couch and seating are at least 36 inches wide

  • The treatment furthest from the interior entrance door has a pathway about 18.5 inches wide to get past the treatment table, but the other two rooms have spaces that are about 48 inches wide by 48 inches long in the corner near the doorway to get into the treatment room

Customer Service/ Disability Etiquette

Description of Section

This includes how helpful and polite employees are (our speciality)!

Details

  • Staff has been trained to ask for preferred treatment table height or any other important accommodations while taking reservations

  • Employees actively offer help to all customers, and make visits enjoyable

  • Unfortunately, employees can’t always be at the exterior entrance door to help with opening it

Section

Seating

Description of Section

This includes if the seating is removable in all functional areas and if employees are around to help with seating.

Details

  • There is a seating area with a couch with a surface at 18.5 inches above the floor, however it might be difficult to access the couch because the pathways near it are less than 36 inches wide

  • There are 3 treatment tables that are required for certain treatments - they can go as low as 24-25 inches off the floor and 2 out of the 3 of them are wider than 30 inches

Bathroom

Description of Section

This includes bathrooms being labeled as accessible, the width of bathroom and accessible stall doors, location of doors, height of door openers off the floor, weight of doors, presence of appropriate grab bars, the ability for a customer using a wheelchair to completely turn around in the bathroom/accessible stall, the height of the flush controls off the floor, the reachability of the sink/toilet paper/soap/drying equipment/lights, and the height of mirrors off the floor.

Details

  • There is one bathroom, which is not labeled as accessible

  • The bathroom door is not difficult to open force-wise, does not require pinching, twisting, or grasping to open or lock, does not have a lip underneath it, has handles at accessible heights, and has an opening that is 33 inches wide

  • To get out of the bathroom, you have to pull open the door, and it’s possible that the sink might restrict the maneuvering clearance to do so

  • Customers using wheelchairs can do a 360 degree turn in this bathroom, the bathroom is much deeper than 60 inches, and at the minimum is 55 inches wide

  • There are 3 grab bars around the toilets, and the horizontal ones are 36 inches off the bathroom floor

  • The toilet paper is more than 7-9 inches from the center of the front of the toilet, and is on a portable stand which customers might move

  • The lights switches are at accessible heights off the floor, and the lights are automatic

  • The sinks, soap, and paper towels are at accessible heights in the bathrooms, and the mirrors is angled downwards

  • The pipes underneath the sink are 100% insulated

  • There are clothes rack and a hook on the back of a closet door in the bathroom, but none of them are at an accessible height off the floor

  • The trashcan in the bathroom requires pushing your foot on the pedal at the bottom to open it, and the lid might be too low for some customers to open it without this

Section

Point of Sale

Description of Section

This includes the reachability of merchandise (including food and drinks), the height of the counter which customers pay at, and the presence of a removable tablet/card reader.

Details

  • There is merchandise to purchase at this location, and some of the items are above 48 inches off the floor, however staff is nearby and ready to help

  • A section of the point of sale counter is at 30 inches above the floor

  • There is a clipboard for the sign-in sheet, a movable card reader, and a tablet that can be moved to the edge of the counter for signing

Amenities

Description of Section

This includes the presence of accessibility features to make this establishment go above and beyond the accessibility of other establishments of the same type.

Details

  • There are automatic lights in the bathroom

  • Bags with handles are provided for merchandise

  • There are handheld portable mirrors for the treatment rooms
