Parking

Description of Section

This includes the number of accessible spaces, the distance of the accessible spaces from the accessible entrance, and the accessibility of the path from the accessible spaces to the sidewalk that the entrance is on (includes curb ramps).

Details

  • There is one accessible parking space (in a parking lot of less than 25 total spaces) which is right outside the entrance

  • The pathway to get on the sidewalk from the parking space is not inclined or bumpy

Entrance

Description of Section

This includes how easy it is to find the accessible entrance, steps/ramps/pathways from the curb ramp/sidewalk to the door, width of entrance door, lip under the entrance door, presence of automatic door openers, reachability of the door handle, and the weight of the door.

Details

  • The entrance does not have an automatic door

  • The door is not too heavy, but not extremely easy to open either

  • The door opening is 34 inches wide and the lip underneath the door is not difficult to navigate over, but there are rugs and mats both immediately inside and outside of the entrance

  • There is no steps or incline to get to the entrance door from the sidewalk

  • There is adequate maneuvering clearance on both sides of the door

Product

Description of Section

This includes the reachability of products that the location sells, the weight of the products the location sells, and the methods available for carrying around products.

Details

  • Some of the products in this establishment could be considered unreachable/heavy for some customers, but there are employees nearby that will check up on you

  • There are only hand baskets to carry around items, but employees make it clear that you can leave items on the counter one by one as you are shopping

Interior Pathways

Description of Section

This includes accessibility of lifts/ramps/elevators, signage to find accessibility features, widths of pathways, cleanliness of pathways, how steep pathways are, presence of inaccessible areas, and the weight/lip/height of handles & knobs of doors not covered by other sections.

Details

  • The only pathways that are about 36 inches wide or wider are from the entrance to the back of the location and to the bathroom

  • Most pathways are 32-36 inches wide, but there are a couple of pathways that are less than 32 inches wide - it’s possible that staff can help move certain baskets or displays to widen pathways

  • There is a chair that employees can bring to you for resting upon request

Point of Sale

Description of Section

This includes the the height of the counters where customers pay at, the reachability of everything at the point of sale counters, the presence of a removable tablet/card reader, and if customers are offered bags with handles.

Details

  • The point of sale counter is not at an accessible height off the floor

  • There is a removable tablet and card reader that can be moved wherever is easiest for the customer

  • There are bags with handles to carry items home

Section

Bathroom

Description of Section

This includes bathrooms being labeled as accessible, the width of bathroom and accessible stall doors, location of doors, height of door openers off the floor, weight of doors, presence of appropriate grab bars, the ability for a customer using a wheelchair to completely turn around in the bathroom/accessible stall, the height of the flush controls off the floor, the reachability of the sink/toilet paper/soap/drying equipment/lights, and the height of mirrors off the floor.

Details

  • The bathroom is spacious and has the appropriate grab bars

  • The toilet paper is about 12 inches away from the front center of the toilet

  • The sink, light switches, and soap are at accessible heights, but the drying equipment and the mirror are not

  • There is a small diaper trash can that requires opening with a foot pedal

  • The piping underneath the sink is not completely insulated

  • It is possible that a white shelf and a step stool could affect the approach to the toilet

Amenities

Description of Section

This includes the presence of accessibility features to make this establishment go above and beyond the accessibility of other establishments of the same type.

Details

  • There is a seat that employees can bring to customers who need to rest

  • There is a step stool in the bathroom

  • There is a toy grabber tool that employees can lend out to customers to use upon request

  • There are hooks in the bathroom at accessible heights

  • There is a kid-sized changing table
