Parking

Description of Section

This includes the number of accessible spaces, the distance of the accessible spaces from the accessible entrance, and the accessibility of the path from the accessible spaces to the sidewalk that the entrance is on (includes curb ramps).

Details

  • There are two standard accessible and two van accessible spaces that are approximately 200 feet away from the entrance, and 2 more van accessible spaces that are approximately 385 feet away from the entrance.

  • The pathway to get on the sidewalk from the parking space is not inclined or bumpy, the curb ramps are extremely accessible

Entrance

Description of Section

This includes how easy it is to find the accessible entrance, steps/ramps/pathways from the curb ramp/sidewalk to the door, the maneuvering clearance of the door, width of entrance door, lip under the entrance door, presence of automatic door openers, reachability of the door handle, and the weight of the door.

Details

  • The entrance includes a set of double doors, which do not have automatic door openers

  • The doors could be considered a little difficult to open, but the door handles and hardware are at accessible heights off the ground

  • The door opening is 33 inches wide and the lip underneath the door is not difficult to navigate over

  • There is no steps or incline to get to the entrance door from the sidewalk

  • There is adequate maneuvering clearance on both sides of the door

Table Service

Description of Section

This includes if customers GENERALLY have to go somewhere else besides their table to pay, order, get food, get drinks, or put away dishes. We also consider if an establishment has trays for transporting food/drinks.

Details

  • Generally, customers have to transport any food or drinks, but the counter to get these at is at an accessible height, and staff is more than happy to help transporting objects upon request

  • Customers have to pay at the counter, but the counter is at an accessible height, and the tablet and card reader can be moved to the easiest position possible upon request

  • There are trays available for transporting gelato/food upon request

  • All trash and dishes can be left on the table for staff to clean up

Interior Pathways

Description of Section

This includes accessibility of lifts/ramps/elevators, signage to find accessibility features, widths of pathways, cleanliness of pathways, how steep pathways are, presence of inaccessible areas, and the weight/lip/height of handles & knobs of doors not covered by other sections.

Details

  • All pathways are clear and wider than 36 inches

  • No pathways are steep

  • All features are easily found

Seating

Description of Section

This includes the accessibility of tables (height of surface from floor and leg/foot room underneath, location of tables, and accessible seating and counter height at bar area.

Details

  • All tables are at an accessible height off the floor, with knee clearance underneath

  • All chairs and seating surfaces are at an accessible height off the floor and have backrests

Section

Bathroom

Description of Section

This includes bathrooms being labeled as accessible, the width of bathroom and accessible stall doors, location of doors, height of door openers off the floor, weight of doors, presence of appropriate grab bars, the ability for a customer using a wheelchair to completely turn around in the bathroom/accessible stall, the height of the flush controls off the floor, the reachability of the sink/toilet paper/soap/drying equipment/lights, and the height of mirrors off the floor.

Details

  • The bathrooms are not labeled as accessible, and the doors to get into the bathrooms (including the handles, locks, door widths, and maneuvering clearances) are all accessible

  • The bathrooms are very spacious and have 3 grab bars around the toilets

  • The toilet paper is about 24 inches in front of the toilets

  • The sinks, light switches, and soap dispensers are at accessible heights, but the drying equipment and the mirrors are not

  • The piping underneath the sink is not completely insulated

  • It is possible that the trash cans could affect the approach to the toilets

Description of Section

This includes the presence of accessibility features to make this establishment go above and beyond the accessibility of other establishments of the same type.

Details

  • There are plastic cups and lids available

  • There are trays available

  • Employees are going or have gone through a disability etiquette training to differentiate their customer service
