  • When getting a ticket for an accessible seat, there is no information about whether there will be a removable seat or not

Description of Section

This includes the type of accessible seating the theaters have, whether or not there is a cup holder for the customer using the accessible seating, whether or not the arm rests are movable on the accessible seats, the size of the acessible seating spaces, the location of the accessible seating, and the labeling of the accessible seating.

Justification of Score

  • The accessible seats do not have movable armrests that can go up and down

  • Accessible seating situation: the theaters on the upper level (this is most of the theaters at Violet Crown) have removable seats and the theaters on the lower level have a space with no seat

  • There are cupholders on both sides of the companion seats so those with the seat removed or those in the space with no seat do have a cupholder

  • The accessible seating space is spacious enough and is not in the way of a path in the theaters

  • The accessible seats are labeled and it is easy to see the screen from the accessible seats

This includes the accessibility of water fountains/drinking coolers (height off the ground & space around), the reachability of everything, the height of the counter you pay at, the presence of a removable tablet/card reader, the ability to order and pay from your seat, whether or not employees get and transport concessions for you, and the presence of trays.

  • There are helpful signs up, but they are small and a little hard to see

  • All pathways are more than 3 feet wide

  • The theater doors are a little difficult to open

  • The elevator is spacious, has handrails, and has reachable buttons

Description of Section

This includes bathrooms being labeled as accessible, the width of bathroom and accessible stall doors, location of doors, height of door openers off the floor, weight of doors, presence of appropriate grab bars, the ability for a customer using a wheelchair to completely turn around in the bathroom/accessible stall, the height of the flush controls off the floor, the reachability of the sink/toilet paper/soap/drying equipment/lights, and the height of mirrors off the floor.

Justification of Score

  • There are male and female bathrooms on both levels of the theater, as well as an accessible family bathroom on the lower level

  • The male and female bathrooms do not have doors to get in them and the door to get in the accessibly family bathroom is not too heavy

  • The accessible stalls in the male/female bathrooms and the family bathroom are very spacious (especially the family bathroom) and have the appropriate grab bars

  • The toilet paper is reachable

  • The sinks and drying equipment are at accessible heights in all bathrooms but the soap and mirrors might be at inaccessible heights for some customers in the male/female bathrooms
